Namaskara! (learnkannada.site) is a free site for learning spoken Kannada. This policy explains what we store about you, why, who handles it for us, and how to remove it. The short version: we keep only what the app needs to save your progress, we show no ads, we use no analytics or tracking scripts, and we never sell your data.
If you don’t sign in
You can play Chapter 1 without an account. Your progress — XP, gems, hearts, streak, finished lessons, the phrases you’ve practised and your settings (theme, script, motion, sound) — is kept only in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
If you sign in
Signing in uses your Google account through Clerk, our sign-in provider. When you sign in, Clerk receives your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and gives us a user ID along with those three details.
We then store, in a database hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare D1):
- your Clerk user ID, name, email address and profile picture link;
- your learning progress and settings (the same list as above);
- when your account and progress were created and last updated.
We use these only to save your progress across devices and to show your name and picture on your profile. We don’t send you marketing email.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare hosts the site, the API and the database. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and basic request details to serve pages and keep the service secure, and keeps short-lived logs.
- Clerk handles sign-in and holds your sign-in account. See Clerk’s own privacy policy for how it treats that data.
- Google provides sign-in, and serves the site’s fonts (Google Fonts), which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers.
We don’t share your data with anyone else, and we don’t sell it.
Cookies and local storage
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. Clerk sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. The app uses your browser’s local storage to hold your progress and settings.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your saved progress for as long as you have an account with us.
- Delete your saved progress: open your profile and choose Delete saved progress. This permanently removes your profile details and progress from our database and signs you out.
- Delete your sign-in account: open your profile, choose Manage account, and delete it there. This removes it from Clerk.
Signing out also clears your progress from that browser.
Children
Namaskara! is meant for adults and teenagers learning Kannada. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
